The use of electrode paste to supply ferroalloy furnaces, calcium carbide furnaces and other electric furnace equipment has become another trend. The main raw materials for the production of electrode paste are anthracite and metallurgical coke. Currently, two electrode pastes with different formulations are produced.
One is the so-called standard electrode paste. It is widely used in ferroalloy furnaces and medium and small calcium carbide furnaces. This electrode paste uses medium pitch with a softening point of 65-75°C (determined by the mercury method) as the binder.
The electrode paste can withstand high temperatures and has a small thermal expansion coefficient. It has a relatively small resistivity, which can reduce the loss of electrical energy.
The height of the electrode paste refers to the height from the upper end of the electrode clip to the top of the electrode paste. If the electrode paste is too high, the coarse and fine particles in the electrode paste are prone to stratification
The electrode paste sometimes has problems during use. In this case, most of them are the overlapping effects of multiple factors.
When there is a soft break due to leakage of paste during production, the ammeter on the operation interface of the central control room suddenly rises or the current drops instantly after a sudden rise.
The main measures to be taken to deal with the high consumption of electrode paste in a closed calcium carbide furnace are as follows:
With high quality anthracite, coke, graphite as raw materials made of carbon block. Used as cathode of aluminium electrolytic cell. It is built at the bottom of the electrolytic cell, also known as the bottom carbon block. The cathode carbon block plays a dual role of conducting electricity and forming the inner lining of the …
